For XDVD Demo users:

A. You don't need the dongle, just connect the 9pin/15pin cable adapter from
your PC COM port (9pin) to the V7400 RS232 port (15pin).

B. To make your own 9pin/15pin cable adapter:

	1. use a 9-pin FEMALE D-sub and a 15-pin MALE D-sub
	2. Connections:

	9-pin Pin #2 to 15-pin Pin #2
	9-pin Pin #3 to 15-pin Pin #3
	9-pin Pin #5 to 15-pin Pin #1

We can supply ready-made cables for $49.95 with the proper connectors
and wiring.

For XDVD Commercial Version users:

1. Connect the Videobotics 9pin/9pin dongle to a COM port on your PC.

2. Connect the Videobotics 9-pin/15 pin cable adapter to the dongle (9pin)
and to the RS232 port (15pin) on the V7400.

For longer cable runs:

You may use any RS232 COM port extension cable with *all 9 pins wired straight through*.

STARTUP

A. Turn on the V7400.
B. Put a DVD into the V7400
C. Activate the Standby/On button on the V7400 so it lights green.
This button is the upper-left-most button on the front of the V7400.
This will start the DVD.

FIRST TRY RUNNING XDVD

The default COM port for XDVD is COM1 on your PC. If you have the
V7400 connected to COM1 on your PC, you are ready to go.

If you are using a different COM port (for example, COM3, etc.) then
please refer to the Settings.txt file for additional information.

You will find that you can edit the Settings.txt file (just double-click
it to open it and you'll see the settings options include a COM port
value) to set the COM port you wish to use.

If you don't set the COM port properly in the XDVD Settings.txt file, either
you won't be able to control the V7400 or the program may simply shut down
after displaying a message:

COM x PORT NOT AVAILABLE

You'll see that message if the COM port is in use or doesn't exist on your PC.
After 5 seconds, the program will shut down since it can't find the COM
port.

If the COM port exists, XDVD will continue, but obviously you won't be able
to control your V7400.

D. Double-click on the XDVD (.exe) program inside the XDVD folder
E. A black 'DOS' window will open and show you some opening messages.
F. After about 5 seconds you should see:

DVD-V7400 ON COMx READY

The XDVD control panel GUI should now be visible as well.

And the DVD will begin to play Title 1 (the preset starting Title
you can change in the Settings.txt file if you wish to start with,
say, Title #2, etc.).

You should also see timecode playing in the XDVD control panel.

Now you can activate the control panel buttons and operate your V7400.

See the Settings.txt file for more information on user-selectable settings.
