VCR2VCR SOFTWARE INSTALLATION:

Simply put the VCR2VCR Folder onto your hard drive. DONE! There is no other 'install' procedure necessary.
If you wish to delete the software, just delete the VCR2VCR folder - simple.

GETTING STARTED -

1. You should already have the DEMO version, so when you receive the full version software, you should already be good to go.

2. Then be sure you have your COM ports set properly in the VCR2VCR_Settings.txt file for each VCR you will use.

3. The full version requires our DONGLE on the PC COM port that you will connect to the SOURCE (PLAY) VCR. Then attach your RS422 adapter/cable to OUR DONGLE and cable it to the VCR.

4. The DEMO program does not require the dongle, but it runs for 5 minutes and then stops. You may run it again if you wish.

5. Once you have your VCRs hooked up and the VCR2VCR_Settings.txt file properly edited for your configuration of equipment, you may run the VCR2VCR.exe program file.

IMPORTANT!!!
When editing the VCR2VCR_Settings.txt file, do so carefully. Note that on the right-hand side of each '=' sign, the letters are not case-sensitive, but the names of the settings entries (e.g. 'VCRType') *ARE* case-sensitive (don't edit those, anyway).

IMPORTANT!!!
If there is a choice for YES or NO, VCR2VCR will default to NO unless the word YES is present. YOu could type 'hello' and it would mean NO.

VCR2VCR SETTINGS -

These are the settings you find in the VCR2VCR_Settings.txt file.

1. PlayVCRType=RS422

You can choose LANC instead of RS422 if you are using a LANC type VCR.
Normally with a BetaCam editing deck you simply leave this setting alone.

2. PlayVCRCOMPort=COM1

This is the COM port you will connect to your 'source' (Play) VCR. You may set it to COM1, COM2, etc. as is appropriate for your system's COM port availability.

3. PlayVCRPreroll=5

This is the preroll time for the Play (source) VCR - normally 5 (seconds).

4. RecVCRType=RS422 : see above #1.
5. RecVCRCOMPort=COM2	: see above #2.
6. RecVCRPreroll=5	: see above #3.

7. Edit Adjust=-2

This is a fine-tuning parameter to help more perfectly align your insert edits. It is a +/- frame amount that modifies the PlayVCR's preroll by a few frames.

8. StopOnExit=YES

This tells the program to stop the VCRs when the program exits. You may set it to NO if you wish to let the VCRs continue to run when you exit from VCR2VCR.

9. LogEdits=YES

This tells the program to build an EDL on your hard drive that records the edits you have performed during a VCR2VCR session.
